The birth of my White Tara Tibetan Thangka Painting
MAY WHITE TARA'S LIGHT ILLUMINATE WITHIN ALL BEINGS
...7 months in the making—she's alive.
I first started this Tibetan Thangka painting in March of this year. I've never spent so many hours committed to working on something over such an extended period of time. Discipline, commitment, love, and grace went into this painting. She has 7 eyes; She who Sees. Her eyes symbolize that all of her activities are done with omniscient awareness. In Tibetan Buddhism, she is a female Bodhisattva and is also the Goddess of compassion.
The Goddess Tara vowed:
"There are many who wish to gain enlightenment
in a man's form,
And there are few who wish to work
for the welfare of living beings
in a female form.
Therefore may I, in a female body,
work for the welfare of all beings,
until such time as all humanity has found its fullness."
Much love,
Nicole
