I want to wish you all a Blessed New Year for 2021. I’m in the winter season of my life—after 5 years of continuous blooming, creating, and generating. Ever since I published and released my book 1.5 years ago, I fell into a cycle of internal winter…which hasn’t left.
This period of internal winter is one of silence, stillness, gestation, maturation and emptiness. It’s like melting into the void, and being one with pure space. The terrain of this internal landscape is stark and naked.
Allowing myself to rest, pause and stop for this last 1.5 years since birthing a tremendous Heart and Soul Creation / Book / Work of Art into the world, has been my practice and challenge.
It’s easy to focus on and share the times of our lives where we are producing, creating and shining out in the external world.
What’s a bit more difficult and challenging, is to show and share the times where we are disintegrating, dissolving, and dying from inside. Where the filaments of our internal being are being washed away in the Great Void, and we become less stabilized in a shaped and formed identity, and more translucent and permeable.
Sometimes an identity has long expired, and we know in our bones that we must die to who we were, in order to become a more true and clear embodiment of who we know ourselves to be.
We allow ourselves to shed our leaves, become naked like trees in the winter, and we wait patiently for the new spark of life to enter us and re-create us from within.
Our ego might want to rush this process, yet our soul knows that it can happen only when it’s meant to happen, and not a second too soon.
Questions of Contemplation
- What seeds are being planted in this time of gestation?
- What is the gift and beauty of the season of winter, both externally and internally within our lives?
- Can we allow ourselves to honor the season of winter, without wanting to rush it away for the more exciting and enlivening peaks of spring and summer?
- Do we fully allow ourselves to rest, pause and stop—in a society that glorifies production, working, busyness and moving forward?
...So to honouring this season and cycle of winter, that I find myself in, I send you all my love. And if you find yourself also in this period of winter within your own internal life, please know that you are not alone, and there is richness and gold amidst the silence and stillness of emptiness, pausing and stopping—winter is just an important season as any other, and there is a deepening that is available to us in this time, that marinates the soul in wisdom, peace and stillness.
Love, Nicole
